Can you talk to enemy players in WARDOGS?

Yes — WARDOGS has proximity voice chat, and that includes the enemy standing in front of you. PapaKow has been playing it on OCE from Brisbane through Season 1, and as of 26 September 2026 I'd put the voice system at 80% of what makes this game work. The other 20% is the shooting and the competitive technical side. That's my split from a season of playing it, not a figure from Bulkhead.

You've got your squad, your team, and proximity — which is where the enemy hears you. I'm not going to pretend I know the exact range in metres, because I haven't measured it. What I know is that if they're close enough to shoot you, they're usually close enough to talk to you.

Why does proximity chat change the way WARDOGS plays?

Because a person is harder to shoot than a nameplate. You talk to someone for ten seconds and the fight stops being a fight. Half the best moments I've had in this game came out of a conversation nobody planned — including a sniper reviving the mate he'd just dropped, which is a built-in feature in WARDOGS and not a bug.

It also changes the arguing. Instead of raging into the void about somebody blocking a gate with pallets, you can tell them. Sometimes they even move.

And it's the thing that's pulled my circle back together. Mates I hadn't spoken to in years are back on comms because this game gives you a reason to actually talk instead of queueing in silence. That's not a feature list item. That's the whole point.

Should you turn off voice chat in WARDOGS?

You can, and some people will want to. If you play with headphones off or you don't want strangers in your ears, that's fair enough. Just understand what you're switching off — on my numbers it's most of the game.

We're still early and a lot of people are learning, so you'll get the odd person who uses the mic badly. That's a person problem, not a WARDOGS problem, and it's a trade I'll take every single night.

Season 2 and the progression wipe land on 15 October 2026. I'll be on WARDOGS on OCE before then — Thursday warm-up from 6pm Brisbane, Friday night from 6pm, Saturday grind from midday. Clutch Club Discord if you want a squad.

You gotta stay gaming.
