The fine print

Privacy

How papakow.com handles your data, in plain English. Last updated 6 September 2026.

Template notice: this page was drafted as a starting point for a one-person creator site and is not legal advice. Karl should review it (and ideally have it checked) before relying on it.

Who runs this site?

papakow.com is run by Karl (“PapaKow”), an individual based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Questions about this policy go through the contact page.

What does papakow.com collect?

  • Sign-in profile. When you sign in with Twitch, Kick, YouTube (Google), Discord or Steam, the site stores the basic profile that platform shares: a user id, display name, avatar and (where the platform provides it) your email address. It does not receive your password.
  • Linked platform ids. So ClutchBot can match your chat messages to one account across platforms, the site keeps the platform user ids you link (for example your Twitch id and Discord id).
  • Chat. Messages you post in site chat are stored with your display name and the time. Messages from Twitch, Kick and YouTube chat are relayed and stored the same way so the combined chat can be shown and moderated.
  • Votes, requests and points. Loadout votes, music/video requests and ClutchPoints balances are recorded against your account (or an anonymous id if you are not signed in).
  • Membership and payments. Memberships and tips are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details; papakow.com never sees or stores your full card number. The site stores your Stripe customer id, subscription status and a record of each successful payment (amount, date, type).
  • Contact messages. Whatever you send through the contact form (name, email, organisation, links, message) is stored so Karl can reply, and a copy is posted to his private Discord.
  • Usage analytics. The site uses self-hosted, cookie-free analytics (Umami) to count page views and see which pages people use. It does not track you across other websites. Watch-time on the live page is recorded against an anonymous id.
  • Server logs. Like every website, the server records IP addresses and request details for a short time for security and debugging (for example, rate-limiting the contact form).

What is it used for?

  • Running the site: signing you in, showing chat, counting votes, delivering member perks.
  • Syncing with ClutchBot so points, badges and the monthly draw work across Twitch, Kick, YouTube, Discord and the site.
  • Replying to you when you get in touch.
  • Moderation and keeping the community safe.
  • Understanding what people use so the site gets better.

Your data is not sold, and it is not used for advertising. There are no third-party ad networks on papakow.com.

Cookies

papakow.com sets a session cookie when you sign in (so you stay signed in) and a small technical cookie for security during sign-in. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout pages. Embedded players from Twitch and YouTube may set cookies according to those companies' policies; YouTube embeds use the privacy-enhanced (no-cookie) domain where possible. Analytics are cookie-free.

Who else sees your data?

  • Platforms you sign in with (Twitch, Kick, Google/YouTube, Discord, Steam) — under their own privacy policies.
  • Stripe for payments.
  • Discord — contact-form notifications are posted to a private channel; chat and points sync to The Clutch Club server.
  • Hosting providers that run the server and database.

Some of these services may store data outside Australia (for example in the United States or Europe).

How long is it kept?

Account data is kept while your account exists. Chat messages, votes and events are kept so the stream history and analytics work; older chat may be pruned. Payment records are kept as long as Australian tax and consumer law requires. Contact messages are kept until they are dealt with and archived.

Your choices

  • You can use most of the site without signing in.
  • You can unlink a platform or cancel a membership from your account page.
  • You can ask for a copy of your data, or for your account and its data to be deleted, through the contact page. Payment records may need to be kept for legal reasons.

Kids

papakow.com is meant for people 16 and over. If you think a child has created an account, get in touch and it will be removed.
