Why is WARDOGS rubber banding on OCE servers?
Two things can be true at once: the ping is the best it's been, and the servers have felt the worst they've been.
Why is WARDOGS rubber banding on OCE servers?
Honest answer: PapaKow doesn't know yet, and anyone telling you they do is guessing. On Tuesday 29 September 2026, on OCE Server #7, I was rubber banding all over the server at one point and it was pretty crazy — at 19 ms ping from Brisbane. Low ping and rubber banding at the same time is what makes it interesting. My connection wasn't the obvious culprit, but nobody else in that lobby said a word about it either, so it may well have been just on my end. Not measured, not confirmed.
What is the WARDOGS OCE ping from Brisbane right now?
19 ms. That's PapaKow's measurement on OCE Server #96 across the nights leading into Tuesday 29 September 2026, and 19 ms again on OCE Server #7 on the Tuesday night. Which is great — that's a better number than the 36 ms I measured on OCE Server #61 back on 22 September 2026.
Same caveat as always: one connection, one city, a couple of nights. Not a benchmark. Your NBN is not my NBN.
What's actually been going wrong on the servers?
Three things over those nights, all first-hand:
- A lag spike on OCE Server #96 that froze the game outright, then dropped me straight back into it.
- Rubber banding on OCE Server #7, all over the place, one stretch of one night.
- Vehicle stutter on #96. The Uris truck trying to deliver supplies kept breaking as I drove — slight brakes every 20 to 30 metres, over and over. That one is the most frustrating of the lot, because a supply run is already long enough without the truck arguing with you.
I'm assuming everyone was getting the truck thing, because that didn't feel like a me problem. The rubber banding might have been. That's the honest split.
Is it the server or is it you?
Here's the test I'd use before blaming anything. If nobody else in the lobby mentions it, it's probably your end. If the whole squad calls it at the same time, it's the server. The truck braking on #96 got called out; the rubber banding on #7 didn't, which is why I'm not putting that one on Bulkhead.
Worth saying that on 25 September 2026 Bulkhead pulled the servers down for about an hour for a security patch, and press reports around that week had the studio dealing with constant DDoS attacks alongside everything else. I'm not going to join the dots between a DDoS and my Tuesday night, because I can't, but it's context.
So are the OCE servers good or not?
Right now: the ping is excellent and the stability is the worst I've felt it in the past couple of days. Both of those are true. I'm on OCE through the rest of the week and I'll log the same three things each night — server number, ping, and what broke. If it clears up by the weekend, this was a rough patch. If it doesn't, that's a pattern and I'll say so with the dates attached.
You gotta stay gaming.
