WARDOGS 0.1.2 fixes WD-L020 crash, closes cash/XP exploits, threatens permanent bans
A minor patch shipped 30/09/2026 kills a Windows 11 launch crash, locks down economy exploits and warns repeat exploiters face bans without warning.

What happened
Bulkhead Interactive pushed WARDOGS Update 0.1.2 live on Tuesday 30/09/2026, after a maintenance window that opened at 8am UTC — 6pm AEST Brisbane/Sydney/Melbourne, 5:30pm ACST Adelaide, 4pm AWST Perth — and ran for an estimated hour while the studio deployed the update. The Clutch Club's own Discord announcement channel confirmed the servers were back and told players to close and relaunch their client to get in.
Bulkhead frames it as a minor update aimed at thwarting some of the recent XP & cash exploits and security issues seen since the early access launch, including a fix for the Windows WD-L020 crash error.
What changed
The big one for anyone who couldn't launch: a Microsoft cumulative update, KB5124010, changed something the game's launch path depended on, causing the WD-L020 hard crash on affected Windows 11 machines — Update 0.1.2 patches that interaction.
Economy exploits closed:
- Revive-action checks are now fully server authoritative, making it harder to abuse across long distances.
- The vehicle fly-through exploit is fixed and its rewards are now capped.
- Rewards for destroying buildables now scale with their build progress, so destroying a placed schematic no longer gives a full reward.
- Depositing pallets into a FOB outside the zone now awards reduced rewards.
Enforcement got harder. Bulkhead says anyone caught abusing cash and XP exploits, or worse, real-money trading, has had their cash and progression reset and risks being permanently banned. The studio was previously more forgiving because it expected Season 1 to have several undisclosed exploits, but that leniency is now over — zero tolerance for economy abuse, with permanent bans possible without warning for repeat offenders.
Other changes: the server browser gets a redesigned Deploy menu letting players choose between Official, Community, Infantry Mode and Low-Level servers, gamepad support was added to the Deploy screen, region select now shows how many regions you've picked, throwables can no longer be used from enclosed vehicle seats, the adaptive crosshair correctly hides while aiming down sights, and a Havoc bug causing extra 20mm/30mm cannon damage was fixed. Community server admins also get scheduled daily restarts and tighter RCON access controls. No progression wipe here — that's still tied to Season 2, expected 15/10/2026. Bulkhead teased that Season 02 is planned as a larger content update with new map conditions, equipment, balance reworks and additional features.
What players are saying
Reaction skews practical relief rather than hype — this is a stability patch, not content. On YouTube, one comment under a patch breakdown video vented that they'd watched a teammate make 800k in five minutes and reported him, but he left the server when called out in chat — the kind of frustration this patch is meant to address. There's also lingering wariness carried over from earlier in Season 1, when the anticheat had a rocky start: the anticheat banned legitimate players too, including known streamers, which studio co-founder Howard Philpott later admitted. That history means "permanent bans without warning" language lands differently for some than the devs probably intend — support for cracking down on cheaters, mixed with "please don't false-flag me" nerves. Dedicated 0.1.2-specific Reddit/Steam review threads were thin at time of writing; most commentary is coming through gaming press write-ups rather than grassroots hot takes.
What it means for you
If WD-L020 has been locking you out on Windows 11, update and you should be back in without workarounds. If you've been farming revives, vehicle fly-throughs or FOB drops, that's shut down and account risk is real — Bulkhead is explicit repeat offenders face permanent bans. OCE players get nothing region-specific here, but the new Deploy menu should make it easier to find Infantry Mode or Low-Level community servers if that's your scene while waiting on Season 2.
What to watch next: Bulkhead says more Season 02 details are coming soon, with a progression wipe expected around 15/10/2026 (AEDT from 4/10).
