Is WARDOGS worth it in early access?

Is WARDOGS worth it in early access?

Yes — as long as you know a full progression wipe lands on 15 October 2026 and you're fine with that. I'm PapaKow, I've been playing WARDOGS on OCE from Brisbane since the beta, and I measured about 36 ms on OCE Server #61 on 22 September 2026 with one minor stutter across the session. One night, one server, one connection, so don't treat it as a benchmark. But it's a real number from a real Australian lounge room, which is more than most of the sites answering this question can give you.

The short version: this game has no wasted fat. Everyone in a match has a role and everyone feels like they're part of something. That's rarer than it sounds.

What makes WARDOGS different from other FPS games?

The social layer, and it isn't close. Look at what modern FPS titles spend their lives arguing about — loadouts, weapons, attachments, the meta, buffs, nerfs, new maps, movement tech exploits. Layer on layer of it. WARDOGS has all that too, but it isn't what the game is.

The voice comms are. If I had to put a number on it I'd say the VOIP system is 80% of what this game is and the other 20% is the shooting and the technical competitive stuff. That's my split, not a stat off a dev slide, but it's how the game feels after a full season of it. You can talk to your squad, your team, and the enemy standing in front of you, and that last one changes every fight you walk into.

Honest version of what that's done for me: it's dragged mates I hadn't heard from in years back onto comms. All of them. Banded back together over a game. And it's introduced me to a pile of new faces on top of that. It has taken over OCE by a mile.

Who shouldn't buy WARDOGS yet?

If you want a finished, stable, no-surprises shooter, wait. It's early access and it's being run like early access — that's the wipe on 15 October, that's the surprise server maintenance, that's a system changing under you mid-season. If you hate mid-air repairs, wait for Season 2 to settle.

If you mute voice chat on principle, you're buying 20% of this game and paying full price for it.

And if you're solo with nobody to talk to, the game still works for you, but it isn't the same game the rest of us are describing.

Is now a good time to start?

Two weeks before a wipe is actually a decent time to start. Nothing you build is permanent anyway, so treat it as a free run at learning the map, the FOBs and the money before everyone resets together on the 15th.

I'm on WARDOGS for most of this week's sessions — Thursday warm-up from 6pm Brisbane, Friday night from 6pm, Saturday grind from midday. Jump in the Clutch Club Discord and I'll squad up.

You gotta stay gaming.
